Piercing Experience has been around since 1992, from its humble beginnings in a subleted space in Little Five Points, to a studio space Brian Skellie, owner of Piercing Experience, shared with a well-known local tattoo company, to the present location on McLendon Avenue in Candler Park. Brian and his team of piercers believe in the spiritual experience of piercing. Both Brian and Sommersett, another piercer at the shop, have traveled extensively to enrich their techniques, experience and knowledge of piercing. Sommersett, who has a warmth and passion for Qi gong and artistic expression, comes from a particularly spiritual and intellectual foundation. The shop's piercing philosophy approaches the experience "with compassion and unconditional love." As the art of piercing becomes more acceptable , credit must also be given to those who have elevated the profession - intellectually, spiritually and otherwise - including Brian Skellie and the Piercing Experience.
