Gnarls Barkley :: The Odd Couple

Outkast is usually my favorite ensemble of two black dudes making funk-meets-rap-meets-electro. But I'm here today to admit that Gnarls Barkley is closing in on the top spot, especially after the March release of their second album The Odd Couple. It's rare to find an album I truly like beginning to end. However, Cee-Lo and Dangermouse lay it down and floss it out for 13 tracks of neo-soul flavor bites that are melodic and infectious. Now let's all cross our fingers that it's doesn't become the summer’s most despised due to over-play. I loved “Crazy” off of 2006's St. Elsewhere, but after three months of non-stop rotation, hearing it made me want to vomit.
