In Flames :: A Sense of Purpose

In Flames
A Sense of Purpose
Koch Records

Following up 2006’s Come Clarity album, Swedish metal icons In Flames have released a new compilation of twisted tunes with a distinctive nod to the metal sounds of yesteryear. Singer Anders Friden’s gravely voice seems to have found its place on this release; the previously unobtainable middle ground between brutal and melodic. The first single, “The Mirror’s Truth,” is a good cross section of the hard rolling sound the entire album delivers. With most of the dozen songs on the release clocking in at under three minutes, pop in A Sense of Purpose for a short but energetic burst of that heavy European metal we all know and love.
