Coming from "a minor mass of songsters" based in New York, Langhorne Slim is what you'd get if Cat Stevens had never changed his name to Yusuf Islam. The eclectic instrument arrangements, the lyrics (sentimental and humanizing), the glimpse into the rightnow of a man's life — it's all there. Langhorne writes self-professed love songs. Adding in the reliability of acoustic guitars and a groovy horn section gives the album a little something that a lot of us are going to like — a disc of ear pleasing, summertime goodness. And God knows we all need a sunny day.
