Latterman :: We Are Still Alive!

Latterman
We Are Still Alive!
Deep Elm Records

The fact that this record is being reviewed almost a year after Long Island’s Latterman has called it a day makes its title fairly ironic; Latterman is in fact not alive. But, what makes this record so great, and something worth talking about a year after the band’s demise, is the sincerity, honesty and passion that blares through the speakers every time anyone decides to spin it on a turntable or pop it in their CD deck. From the second ...We Are Still Alive! kicks off to the second it ends, every member of the band leaves every ounce of their blood, sweat, tears, heart, and soul resonating in the air around you. It is hard to categorize the music, as it is certainly much more than a compilation of aggressive pop punk tunes. But while the formula doesn’t seem like anything new, this record really is something more than just catchy melodies and shouty, gravely punk rock vocals.Very rarely does a record seem “important” on its first listen, but ...We Are Still Alive! is really proving to be an exception to the rule here; it doesn’t even take that long before you’ll be singing its praises.
