The Sound Of Urchin :: The Diamond
The Sound Of Urchin
The Diamond
Hybrid Recordings

Considering that The Sound Of Urchin has toured with bands ranging from goof rockers like Tenacious D and Ween to metal maestros like Dio and the Scorpions, it only makes sense that The Diamond is a little difficult to categorize. Opening track "Police Helicopters Over Brooklyn" sounds a little like the post-new wave of a band like the Killers. However, once you've heard songs like "The Jack-O-Lantern," "Dracula Bite," "Howling At The Moon," and "The Door," you'll also hear a little of everything ranging from Queen to Weezer to CKY in the band's sound. Even Urchin's choice of collaborators seems a little out there with guest guitarists Jay Jay French of Twisted Sister and James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins and A Perfect Circle, and keyboard and production credit going to Fountains of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger.

The Sound Of Urchin will be on tour in May.
