Weezer :: Weezer (The Red Album)

Weezer
Weezer (The Red Album)
Geffen

In an age where bands are constantly trying to re-evaluate their sound and keep things fresh, Weezer is straddling the fence. On one hand, their new release, officially self titled but referred to as The Red Album, has a few tunes reminiscent of 1994-Buddy Holly-classic Weezer glory. But on the other side, I hate about 75 percent of the songs. So sue me, I’m a Weezer purist. The first time I heard “Everybody Get Dangerous” on the old FM, I thought the DJ had accidentally put in a Good Charlotte cut. What happened to the self-imposed lameness that made their sound so good? Cuomo, you know what the fans want, so stop fucking around. Wasn’t Maladroit enough experimenting?
