Everybody's favorite pinup model is Miss Sabina Kelley. From a
small town ballerina to the big-time Vegas showgirl at Bally's
Hotel Jubilee for two and a half years, this world famous varga
model and Burlesque dancer is making it big in every way. Sabina
has been at this show-biz stuff for quite awhile now, with photo
shoots under her belt by the most infamous — and probably the
best — photographers in the whole world: David LaChapelle, Lesley
Slenning, Viva Van Story, and Bunny Yeager.You know Bunny Yeager,
she shot all the pictures of Bettie Page in the Cheetah outfit! Sabina
has graced the cover of multiple magazines as well as our own
before, but this time we get personal with the Queen of Pinup!
So what do you have coming up that you’re really looking
forward to?
I have a lot coming up and in the works. I have a second edition of Pinup
Playing Cards with Heidi Van Horne that will be out by the end of the year.
I'm in the process of a TV show, I will have a 2009 Calendar and a new Web
site. I'm opening up a Burlesque Show at
one of the Casinos in Vegas, and will be
opening a laser tattoo removal business.
There are a lot more surprises in store,
too. I'm really excited!
Does juggling the family life with
your career get hard at times?
Definitely! My family is my world and are
first in my book. Modeling is my full-time
job, but family is my priority. I'm very
lucky I have a great mother-in-law to help
out with the kids when I'm traveling.
What is one of your favorite tattoos,
or your newest tattoo?
I like all of my tattoos. I guess if I had to
pick a favorite it would be the Geisha on
my right arm, my husband, Kent Kelley,
and I designed it. My newest tattoos are
on my knuckles and were tattooed by
Mister Cartoon.
Who are some artists you’d like to
get work from?
That's a hard question because there are
many amazing artists out there. I guess it
depends what I'm getting on me next to tell
you which artist I will have tattoo it. I usually
have my husband doing most of my tattoos
but if he doesn’t agree or want to do
what I want, I go to the next best artist.
Who is your favorite burlesque
performer, young or old?
My favorite young burlesque performer
would be Dita Von Teese, my favorite old
burlesque dancer is Sally Rand.
There are so many pinup girls trying
to make a name for themselves
in burlesque and in print
right now. What is your advice to
them?
Be yourself! Don't try to copy, look like, or
be like any of the other pinup models or
burlesque stars; that will get you nowhere. If they are already big in the scene they
don't need two of the same people. Be different so you stand out and can become a
star. You can only be successful if you’re being yourself anyway.
Describe a regular day in the life of Sabina.
Work work work. Hang out with my family, work work work! Then maybe once in a
blue moon I get to hang out with friends and have some fun. My schedule is crazy, but
I would not change it for the world. I love it!
